Actual Philosophy… PART I.

Philosophy is a favorite term of mine. I use it to sound smart half of the time. The other half, I’m philosophizing. My mind wanders too often in the other half of time, thinking about my beliefs, my problems, and how puberty probably hit me way too hard. Still, rather than then just stating my name and age for introduction, I will show you the real me.

I’m not a fan of life.

Think about that for a second. Does this mean I’m suicidal? To be suicidal is to cut off the connection. Yet life is complicated, no one can deny that. And no one can truly understand it. We, as a society, define life through colloquialisms to make it seem easy to deal with, or pleasant. They, meaning the general public, present it almost as rules which we should, not must, follow. But if we don’t, there’ll probably be consequences. Yet colloquialisms contradict each other half the time, so what the hell are we supposed to do?

There is one thing that one can be certain of: the process of thoughts. You know you’re thinking. Everything after that can be false: where you are, what you’re doing, who you know. Skepticism to its fullest, but truest. Therefore, when it comes to arguments, one can never assume they’re 100% certain. Liberals v. Conservatives, Theists v. Atheists, Arabs v. Jews. It never matters.

Our existence is a mystery. We know we came from something. Our “mother” not only may not be our biological mom, but might not exist, as stated before. Going up the pyramid of evolution leads you nowhere. There is no known tip at the top. In other words, we don’t know if there is or isn’t God. You can stick to a belief. Beliefs are thoughts. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, atheists and theists might be wrong. Cucumbers could be the reason for our existence. How do you know?

Religion is hard to discuss without sounding like a missionary, even if you’re atheist. Religion provides answers to the insignificant parts of life, yet it’s the parts that humans generally think about too much. I’m not a fan of religion, but that doesn’t make me atheist. I follow the philosophies of Hinduism. They provide my answers… for now.

The “point” or “purpose” of life is defined by you. You can make it whatever you want it to be. It could be a game, or the biggest adventure your mind will experience. If your life sucks, it’s most likely your fault. That’s just how “life” is. It doesn’t play favorites, and it’s very fragile. If you make even one mistake, it could lead to your demise. Death will be discussed in a later paragraph.

Your environment determines you, and you eventually have a say in your environment. What does this mean? Your parents will determine, indirectly, whether your life is going to be worth it or not. After the whole “independence”, or puberty phase, it’s all up to you. If you hang out with smokers, you’ve got a higher chance of ending up smoking, or developing lung cancer from secondhand smoking. Is this always the case? No, because there is no certainty.

The afterlife is a strange thing. It’s a sign of hope. Maybe there’s something better after whatever the hell I’m going through now (not me specifically, of course). Then again, our bodies will end up rotting into the ground or possibly turned into ash, which will probably be the case for me. I don’t care for it, and I don’t worry about it. Either way, it’s too depressing, and the thought of it has gotten the better of me in our encounters.

As a boy, the opposite sex, i.e. the females, never cease to confuse me. Without females, a regular straight man would probably slowly go insane and start questioning his sex life and BEGIN RANTING ABOUT HOW NO GIRL LIKES HIM… by the way, I’m single. The way I was raised, all girls are supposed to be repulsive until it’s time for me to marry, since I’m going to be having an arranged marriage. Still, guys can go crazy without girls. To be honest, anyone of any orientation usually goes crazy from lack of love, at least from what I’ve seen.

I would continue writing, but I’d probably take up too much space, and you’d lose interest. Views don’t necessarily matter. It’s feedback. And views come through that. So as long as I get some comments, I’m fine.

What’s happened to us?

I’m not a man of extremes, but stating the extremes in terms of this topic will hopefully show us we must avoid them.

Oh, and this isn’t meant for anyone specifically. And it’s none of this “you know who you are” stuff. If any description sounds a lot like you, this passage wasn’t meant to offend you specifically. Oh, and I’m not perfect, as is the case for anyone. I have no authority. I only say this because no one says a word about how messed up this school can be. But, for the most part, we know that some things we do are just plain stupid. It may sound obvious for some of you, but not everyone knows what the hell is going on.

This won’t affect everyone who reads the following letter if you will, but it’s out of anger that’s lasted for years.

Dear kiddies,

These invisible boundaries that surround us as teenagers are entirely pointless. We can’t get near each other without entering a state of paranoia: What does he/she really think of me? You think I’m nuts? Put it this way: Suicides don’t happen because the victims always hate only themselves; they hate the world because they think the world hates him or her.

We’re too homophobic. Why do we have to resort to calling bisexuals d—s in the locker rooms? Or even think about whether all members of the Gay Straight Alliance are gays or lesbians? Do you really have to be that inquisitive or suspicious? People are different from you, deal with it.

Stop the macho-ness. Really, you look like a total nitwit. Who do you really think you are? Just because you think more girls like you than others or because you think you’re athletic, or you think you’re attractive doesn’t mean you go around making fun of people’s moms and dads and siblings and anything else your minds can think of. Of course this applies to everybody who’s like this. Please grow up. I feel the coldest chill up my spine when I see such people.

What are you smoking for? What are you drinking for? This made up unit known as popularity doesn’t skyrocket because you got drunk or high at three in the morning. This isn’t designed to be a stereotype. I’m just sick of people knowing how bad the substances are for you, but they still try it once. I get if you’ve had problems of some kind, or to relax, but drugs aren’t the answer. And posting the pictures of you high or completely wasted on the Internet doesn’t help either. If you try it once, you’re hooked. Anybody knows that, it’s the whole point!

We judge too much on how a person looks or the tiny things he or she does. So a guy has long hair (i.e. a fringe) or his pants are tighter than you want it. Or maybe… say it ain’t so… He or she likes Yu-Gi-Oh. Who cares? Is it so important that we start to make the most outrageous assumptions over such minuscule issues? It’s just way too much, period.

This is why I write. I don’t care if you hate me for it. I do it out of rage. And I’m not the only one that feels this way. We just don’t take the chance because we know the reaction won’t exactly be completely in our favor. Somebody will most likely look at each of the words in each and every single sentence and look for something to say against me… god, help us.

Many people have the same feelings expressed in this note, but refuse to say enough or anything. “One of the things I’ve learned is to just not get caught up with the high school standards everyone worries about,” says Bryan McComb of Lynbrook High School. “You have to focus on you. What they say or think are just ignorant comments. Take it from me, as long as you’re okay with yourself, and this goes for everyone, then what they say to you shouldn’t get to you or anybody else.”

To the victims: keep your head up, it makes you the better one. Trust me.

I Love Gays, Lesbians, and Bisexuals… No Homo.

I’m sure this must be a sensitive topic for some of you. In which case, I laugh and pity you.

Oh, and before any of you pinheads make some stupid assumptions because I support gay rights, I’m not gay. Not bi, transvestite, cross dresser, or pregnant man. I’m straight as can be.

So now let me ask…what’s wrong with gays? Men or lesbians. Anyone? Hmmmm???

Besides the fact they’re:
Faggots (really mature)
Queers (it means weird, not LGBT)
Homos (I’m just shaking my head now)
Weird (Are you necessarily one to talk?)
Freaks of Nature (Lord knows Freddie Mercury was a creature of the night)
etc…

The list could go on for years. Gays have replaced the African Americans of the previous century as the one to place all discrimination, prejudice, and hatred on. Just because they like their own sex. Maybe that’s a little extreme, but still, someone probably said it was too extreme when the idea was that blacks were the focal point for racism, at the same time they were being segregated.

It’s not as if LGBTs are monsters out to take over the world, as much as Pat Robertson would love to believe that.

There shouldn’t be any argument against gays. THEY’RE GAY, for god’s sake! On what freakin’ grounds can you make the argument? That they get AIDS easily? That they, um, LIKE THEIR OWN SEX??? Was Magic gay? Was Eazy-E  (the guy who made fun of gays) gay? It’s not as if AIDS-infected gays will lead to the downfall of the human population.

There is one argument I know of I can’t stand: they’re not mentally challenged. I cringe when I hear some airhead say that. So their wiring is different from us. Big deal. It’s not as if they have Down’s syndrome or Tourette’s or some other terrible mental disorder. The concept is so bigoted, it really makes me pity human society as a whole. Especially the United States. Most especially after Prop 8 in California.

On a broader aspect, this country was founded on the ideal that anyone in this country could achieve “life, liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”, and that the country should:

“make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

So the word “gay” isn’t mentioned in the First Amendment… that’s what the Ninth Amendment is for:

“the enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.”

I think same sex marriage should fit in there.

The end of the rant goes like this. Gays and Lesbians want the same rights a straight person does. That’s it. They don’t want to suck on your blood, or eat and brainwash your children, though not necessarily in that order.

If anyone from Cali (Go Compton), is reading this, or hell, any nation that doesn’t allow same sex marriage, you don’t have to like what LGBTs necessarily do, but at least be a little American, and let them have their freedom.
